It all starts with rhythm…

Four three six celebrates global rhythm and digs deep into the relationship between rhythm and location. Our research is presented through articles, playlists, mixes and transcriptions, and our podcast - place and time.

Rhythm is the original technology, for communication, expression and connection - rhythm surrounds us at all times.  The places where we live provide the pulse to which we live, constantly in collaboration with the soundscapes and patterns that inhabit our everyday lives.  Sometimes we live in sync with our surroundings, sometimes we move out of step.  At times we embrace the noise, and at others, we seek shelter from it.

The rhythms of our cities and towns are always changing, as new players arrive, and past masters leave, each adding a new level of complexity to the ever-changing pulse of the place.  The city is a melting pot of culture, where a mix of different rhythms, accents and tones create a unique sound from which we draw inspiration.  From these scenes and styles, new genres are created, that have the city’s DNA embedded deep within them.
